Lab director
Professor Maya Benish-Weisman is an Associate Professor at The Paul Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
She received her PhD at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and was a postdoctoral fellow in the Psychology Department at the Graduate Center, the City University of New York. She was a Senior Lecturer in the Counseling and Human Development Department at the University of Haifa and was the head of the Educational Counseling program.
LAB MEMBERS
Research Assistant
Elena is a practical psychologist who received her MA in Psychology at the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. After graduating from the Academy, she worked as a psychologist in a secondary school. Elena currently works as a practical psychologist in the Educational Psychology Service of Jerusalem and is a researcher at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Currently a doctoral student (accelerated track) in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at the UH under the supervision of Prof. Maya Banish-Weisman and Prof. Yair Ziv.
ASYA ISAAKYAN
Student, Research Assitant
Asya received her BA in Social Work in the country of exodus — Armenia. During her studies, she often participated in student exchange programs in Germany After becoming acquainted with German culture and language, she decided to change her profile, and after repatriation in 2016, she entered the University of Haifa in the program Germany and Europe Studies.
JULIA POLONIK
Student, Research Assistant
Julia is studying Psychology and Exact Sciences at the Open University of Haifa and is an assistant study coordinator at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is a member of the ISEF organization, which seeks to reduce social inequality and provide equal educational opportunities in Israeli society.
JULIA (ESTER) POLONSKY
Research Assistant
Julia received a BA in Economics and an MA in Finance at the Faculty of the International Business School at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. She is also a graduate and a member of the European branch of LEAD (Leadership Programs in the Field of Sustainable Development – London, Brussels, Ottawa).

I have a BSc in Life Science and Education, a Teaching Certificate in Biology, an MA in Education in Science and Technology, and an MBA in Management from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology. I am currently in the midst of my doctoral studies in the Department of Counseling and Human Development at the University of Haifa.

I'm married to Ido and the mother of Amit. I have a BA in Special Education and Counseling and Human Development, as well as an MA in Educational Counseling from Haifa University.

I’m a Psychotherapist, with an MEd in Educational Counseling. I am also conducting a preliminary study to become a candidate for doctoral studies, and I am a lecturer on the Michal Daliyot method in a family counseling program on "The Modern Family" at Ohalo College.

I began my studies in biology and psychology but decided to focus on biology and medical sciences, hoping to pursue a graduate research field that combines biology (particularly genetics) with the study of behavior. In addition, I work in and train volunteers at the youth center.

Having been born in the Former Soviet Union, raised in the ethnically diverse city Acre in Israel and immigrated to the USA when I was a teen, cultural identity and immigration have, unsurprisingly, become main fields of interest and inquiry for me.
YFAT GAVISH

I am married to Shahaf and a mother to Adar and Evyatar. I have BA in Biochemistry from Technion and an MA in Psychobiology from Tel Aviv University. After receiving these degrees, I changed my career path partly out of interest and partly because of a sense of mission. I now have an MA in Educational Counselling from Haifa University and am a PhD student in that program.
